New Site’s Design

February 17th, 2010 / News / 3 Comments

I’ve decided to give my site a fresh look. After being quite busy for a while, I’ve got the time to Design & Code the Site and its WordPress backend.

It was a really fun project since I got the chance to explore typography to the Maximum, providing a design with Beautiful Type, and with legibility in mind.

Its minimalistic structure and Subtle & Classic Details, makes the site a pleasure to read. Taking Georgia to the next level for body type, and the splendid work of Mr. Barry Schwartz, with the Sorts Mill Goudy Typeface:

A ‘revival’ of Goudy Oldstyle and Italic, with features among which are small capitals (in the roman only), oldstyle and lining figures, superscripts and subscripts, fractions, ligatures, class-based kerning, case-sensitive forms, capital spacing.

User Interface

To provide a consistent minimalist User Interface, the Search functionality for the site has been provided on-demand, via the Header. This allows for a cleaner layout and prioritizing the Screen Real Estate, for the site’s content.

CSS3 Features

The site makes use of CSS3 coolness, to provide a rich visual experience for users with  browsers such as Firefox, Safari, Chrome & Opera, which already support most of CSS3′s new implementations.
